Jobs in Kimberley
Kimberley is the commercial capital of South Africa’s diamond mining heartland of the Northern Cape Province. It is the home of De Beers, the global diamond monopoly company and the historically famous site of a Second Boer War siege. It is also a major tourist hub with its own attractions and easy access to the nearby Mokala National Park, several nature reserves, game farms and hunting lodges.
Kimberley jobs span virtually all known business sectors. Mining is, of course, big business employing many engineering professionals and creating a market for banking, insurance, medical and other service industries. There are even occasional opportunities in aerial and solar energy installations businesses.
Tourism is another big employer because the city serves as the staging point for most excursions and hunting trips to the nearby game parks, reserves and hunting lodges.
Other places to look for jobs in Kimberly include the thriving IT sector that covers everything from electronics and computer sales, repairs, to ecommerce, IT support and training services. As expected of a large city, vacancies often crop up in the retail and personal service industries such as shops and supermarkets, housing, hotels and entertainment facilities.
A word of caution: this South African city should not be confused with the Canadian city or a region in western Australia both of which are similarly named.
